Imagining The Indian is a comprehensive examination of the movement to eradicate the words, images, and gestures that many Native Americans and their allies find demeaning and offensive. The film takes a deep-dive into the issues through archival footage and interviews with those involved in the fight. The psychological research is clear, the use of Native American mascots is detrimental, not only to Native people, but to marginalized groups everywhere.

Ben West (Cheyenne) is a writer and filmmaker who has worked with companies such as Carsey-Werner Mandabach, Telenova Productions, Mandalay Pictures, and outlets such as the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of the American Indian. He has chosen to focus much of his life’s work on Native Peoples.

Yancey Burns, Co-Producer / Co-Writer

Yancey Burns is a 2019 graduate of the George Washington University Documentary Film Center, he wrote and directed the award-winning documentary short One Fall, which explores the return of independent professional wrestling to the District of Columbia. Prior to filmmaking, he was a practicing attorney, most recently with the Board of Ethics and Government Accountability, where he prosecuted ethical misconduct in the DC government. He also owns and manages his family farm in Lincoln County, West Virginia, which produces 100% grass-fed Hereford beef. Burns holds a BS in Journalism from West Virginia University, a JD from the University of the District of Columbia David A. Request for Proposals for Environmental Assessment for Fiber Deployment Project

Centranet in collaboration with Sac and Fox Nation is requesting proposal submissions from professional Environmental Consultants to conduct Environmental Assessment (EA) for sites identified by Centranet.

Sac and Fox Nation along with Centranet are deploying a full fiber optic network within the tribal lands of Sac and Fox Nation. The goal is to make gigabit internet available within the tribal lands using fiber to the home. The timeline to complete the Environmental Assessment is 90 days from award.

The project involves roughly 250 to 300 miles of aerial and underground fiber within portions of Payne, Lincoln, and Pottawatomie counties. A non-disclosure agreement will be required before specifics of the projects are shared with interested parties. Upon execution of the NDA, Centranet will provide design files identifying locations and sites as well as examples of EA with expected deliverable outlined.

Interested parties should contact Sachin Gupta (sgupta@centranetfiber.com) to request a copy of the NDA, a guideline template and for more information. Expressions of interest are required by January 25th 2023 and final proposals are required by February 10th 2023.
